Ahmed Abou-Sharkh, PhD, PT

Ahmed is a Physical Therapist, an entrepreneur and an educator. He obtained a BSc. in Rehabilitation Science, a Professional Master’s in Physical Therapy and a PhD in Rehabilitation Science from McGill University. As part of his PhD, Ahmed joined the Health Outcomes research team within the Division of Clinical Epidemiology and the Center for Outcomes Research and Evaluation at the McGill University Health Center. He had the opportunity to participate in a wide variety of research projects involving use of technology for mobility solutions, large population-based surveys of walking challenges, development and testing of a mobile application, and development of a novel metric for physiological reserve in frail elderly.  

Ahmed’s primary interest is on how technology can transform the provision of rehabilitation. He has turned this interest into a commercial endeavour by co-founding PhysioBiometrics Inc. Ahmed is currently Vice-President of Clinical Services at PhysioBiometrics Inc. in which he leads product testing and manages sales and customer relations. 

At PhysioBiometrics Inc., Ahmed collaborates with healthcare professionals to contribute evidence and offer solutions to mobility challenges for clinical populations: Osteoporosis, Diabetes, Soft Tissue Sarcoma, Stroke and Parkinson’s Disease. As in any startup, Ahmed wears multiple hats. Aside from his clinical work, he regularly gives business pitches to attract investors. In two years, PhysioBiometrics Inc. raised over $600K from public and private granting agencies.
